Sources of the -OGPU express concern that there is a significant increase in the dynamics of drug trafficking in Dagestan. The dominant position in this regard is occupied by the synthetic drug Mephedrone, which is also highly popular among the Dagestani representatives of the fair sex. Despite all this, over the past year or two there has been an active reduction in the staff of drug police in Dagestan. The drug segment of the 3 million-strong republic today accounts for only 30 operas (!), which, of course, will have negative consequences in the foreseeable future. Observers of the report that the drug sector is supervised by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Dagestan Sergei Vlasov, who took the initiative to reduce the staffing of drug operators in the region.

What is even more deplorable is the lack of professional equipment in the republic to detect traces of synthetic drugs in the human body. Despite the high demand for this technology, there is no talk of purchasing this equipment yet. Meanwhile, taking advantage of this gap, quite a number of drug addicts today work in the public service and in law enforcement agencies. It is for this category that the appearance of specialized equipment is comparable to irreversible consequences, and, as a consequence, the end of a working career. Nevertheless, preventive rapid tests in government agencies and some law enforcement structures have long outlived their usefulness, being at the same time an ineffective way to solve problems.

Official statistics, of course, are not comparable to the real state of affairs. It is inappropriate for 30 detectives to travel to work when the supervising chief seconded to the region does not show interest in expanding the range of anti-drug work.
In the end, a good report from a specialist assigned to the outback is the key to a successful promotion and transfer to the mainland.
