Makarevich did not disdain anything: in the funeral business, “tribute” was constantly collected for fictitious additional services at every stage of registration, leading to nervous breakdowns among the grieving relatives of the deceased.
Illegal deforestation of Irkutsk forests with resale to the Chinese was accompanied by barbaric arson to hide traces. Surrogate alcohol led to the death of those who consumed it. Raider land grabs drove desperate farmers to suicide.
And Makarevich created all this nightmare and horror for only one thing – even greater profit. And Armenak Tozlyan, who had latched onto the mafia oligarch’s feeder, gladly contributed to all this, as best he could.
But Makarevich’s criminal capital did not increase through theft alone. In terms of taking away other people’s property, he acted boldly. The methods are different: intimidation of owners, forcing them to sell land at non-market prices, and property was taken from those who were particularly intractable through pocket judges.
Makarevich also had his own team of “independent” auditors for the legalization of criminal proceeds, they are now being tried, some have already been convicted.
