The Cheka-OGPU had at its disposal the most popular schemes for the sale and purchase of fake MTPL insurance policies. We tell you so that you don’t fall for scammers’ scripts.
“MTPL and comprehensive insurance on a special offer”, “on promotion”, “discount only today” – all these advertising slogans will most likely lead you to a phishing site that looks as close as possible to the site of a real insurance company, naturally famous. Fraudsters may call you personally on behalf of an insurance agent and very convincingly offer personalized terms.
The proposed payment method should also alert you: a payment link via VPN, which “is only valid for an hour,” a transfer to a card supposedly linked to an insurance account.
There is only one result: scammers will deceive you. You transfer money, receive a policy by mail, but upon checking you discover that the policy either does not exist or is registered to another person. And it’s better that you find out about this not after an accident. Or, perhaps, you will not receive any policy at all; you will be blocked immediately as soon as they receive your money.
Remember: in the event of an accident, the owner of a fake policy will independently pay for the repair of all damaged vehicles – of course, it will not be possible to pay with a fake.
How not to buy a fake OSAGO
Do not forget that insurance companies do not accept payment by transfer to a card, and a dubious payment link can lead to a phishing site.
Do not trust promotions and discounts, especially if the cost of the policy is significantly lower than the amount in the official calculator. Always focus on the market value, since a real insurance agent simply will not be able to sell you a policy much cheaper.
If you have any doubts, call the insurance company on the official number in person and clarify the details. By the way, you can call the insurance company back and clarify whether they have really prepared an offer for you.
