Since Klebanov is tuned in to the wave of memories, the Cheka-OGPU invites him to remember the story of 12 years ago. If these memories are formalized as testimony to an investigator, then the case of a brutal attack on journalist Oleg Kashin will be solved.
When Andrei Turchak was appointed acting governor of the Pskov region in 2009, his father, Anatoly Turchak, asked his friend Ilya Klebanov (at the time of the events he held the post of presidential plenipotentiary representative in the Northwestern Federal District) to take his son under his wing. An inexperienced official, Andrei constantly turned to Klebanov for advice on any occasion. When Kashin’s famous post about Turchak came out, the first person Andrei called was Klebanov. He did not understand the anger at all (And Turchak was very angry) of his ward and advised him not to pay attention to any posts. But Turchak did not let up. Then Klebanov recommended writing a statement about insult. After that, the plenipotentiary forgot about this story.
And then the news came that Kashin had been attacked. Immediately after this, Turchak arrived to Klebanov. The first thing Klebanov asked was: “Well, why did you do it?” Turchak did not deny it, but explained the act as follows: “Evil must be punished.”
