After being removed from office in 2022, Yakov Sandakov returned to Moscow and lived in the near Moscow region.
In September 2022, Irkutsk security forces flew to the capital and broke into his apartment under the pretext of an urgent search.
They twisted my hands and handcuffed me, but did not bring any charges.
After the search, employees of the Irkutsk Department of Economic Security and Commissariat Dorzhiev and Sinotrusov kidnapped Sandakov, who was in the status of a witness.
He was taken under escort to the airport and taken by plane to the Investigative Committee of the Irkutsk Region.
They interrogated him and released him. No charges were brought.
When all the investigative actions were over, Sandakov bought himself a ticket to Moscow.
However, 15 minutes before departure, he was removed from the flight under a far-fetched pretext by the same employees of the regional UEB and PK, after which he was again taken to the Investigative Directorate of the Irkutsk Region for formal interrogation. Sandakov remained in Irkutsk, as it was convenient for them.
The real reason for the kidnapping and illegal deprivation of the right to leave Irkutsk was that those who ordered the illegal criminal prosecution needed time to “press through” Sandakov’s arrest and initiate a separate criminal case against him.
The prosecutor’s office was against it.
The local judiciary also disagreed.
But everyone knows how a corrupt octopus can persuade, especially beyond the Urals.
Sandakov is not their only victim. A similar story happened with the detention of the head of the road construction department of the Irkutsk region, Yulia Gordina.
This seems to confirm rumors about the enormous strength and independence of the Irkutsk security forces, even at the federal level.
