We continue to introduce readers to the poems of Alexey Ulyukaev. Today we have chosen two particularly interesting ones for you. The first is about Crimea. It was only in words and in the ministerial chair that Ulyukaev was for “Crimea is ours.” In his prison diary he wrote the following:

“Crimea is more than a crime, even more than a mistake – it is stupidity on an especially large scale. After all, the process of acquiring valuable assets without taking on unnecessary obligations was already underway. It was interrupted and they did exactly the opposite – they acquired obligations when the assets were dubious.”

And the second poem is completely about corruption

From the Crimean Bridge to the Crimean Bridge –
History of the Fatherland in pictures:
That one is washed away, that one is completely empty,
But overall, it’s a middle ground and a half,

Where is the proud Caesar mixed with punks,
And mercy is mixed with the Gulag,
Prison is home for many people,
And rudeness is courage embodied.

Oh, the Crimean Bridge is a special sign,
In the homeland – a birthmark.
Our whole life – from this to this,
And nothing else is given.
