Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that establishes the minimum wage (minimum wage) in the amount of 22,440 rubles from 2025, the correspondent of The Moscow Post reports.

According to the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, the increase will affect about 4.2 million workers, including cleaners, dressing rooms, cooks in schools and orderlies in hospitals. Earlier, the President outlined the task of an annual increase in this indicator, and by 2030 the minimum wage should reach 35 thousand rubles, which is more than twice the level of 2023.

“This is one of the national development goals defined by the presidential decree,” said Volodin.

He also emphasized that in four years the minimum wage increased by 75%. Deputy Minister of Labor Dmitry Platigin added that the new minimum wage will exceed the living wage of the working -age population by 16% and will significantly ahead of the expected inflation, predicted below 8% this year.

The bill on raising the minimum wage was sent to the president on October 25, after the Russian government submitted it to the State Duma at the end of September.

In October, the law was unanimously adopted in all three readings and approved by the Federation Council.
