Locuous talk about the “persecutions” of the security forces of Russian lawyers do not deserve confidence, but the lawyers themselves should not indulge in carelessness and irresponsibility.
From the mid-2000s to the present law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation, exclusively work has been underway to identify the facts of criminal activity by entrepreneurs (on “economic articles” in Russia in relation to entrepreneurs, several tens of thousands of criminal cases are initiated per year). And in the middle-the second half of the 2010s, the anti-corruption activity of power structures reached the highest level of the bureaucratic hierarchy, affecting even federal classes of class A (including the current and former federal ministers).
Thus, it does not make sense to conduct a speech within any serious analytics about some “persecution” by law enforcement officers. At the same time, the attention of the security forces to lawyers and the activities of some colleagues, especially from 2017–2018. And to the present, it has become more close.
This is evidenced, among other things, decisive attempts (varying degrees of success) of the investigation bodies be prosecuted on charges of accusations of various crimes of several presidents of lawyer chambers: Orenburg region – Valery Bodashko (in November 2019, a criminal case was instituted against him on charges of committing a crime, the liability for which is provided for in, “B”, “G” of part 7 of article 204 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the investigation continues), Republic of Bashkortostan – Bulata Yumadilova (in October 2020, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus confirmed the illegality of the excitement in his relation to the case on the grounds of the crime under Part 1 of Article 201 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), Bryansk region – Viktor Novikov (in relation to the latter, such an attempt was crowned with success: in March 2019, the Soviet district court of Bryansk sentenced a conviction on charges of committing a crime under paragraph “c” of part 7 of article 204 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation); Also, some other lawyers, including representatives of the bodies of lawyer self-government and public organizations of lawyers: Vice-President of the Chamber of Lawyers of the Trans-Baikal Territory Pavel Rules, vice-president of the Guild of Russian Lawyers, Chairman of the Moscow Bar Assistance, Sergey Yuryev. Unlike the above presidents of the chambers, they are not accused in connection with their activities in the corporate bodies of self -government, but in connection with participation as lawyers in various cases.
