Konstantin Ovcharenko (pictured) and Sergey Zubov worked a shift at the police department in the Karasun district of Krasnodar on January 29. It was on this night that Vahan Amirkhanyan, detained on suspicion of theft of 10 million rubles, was brought to the department. By the way, he committed the theft several years ago and has been wanted for a long time.
As often happens on Friday and Saturday evenings, the police department was crowded: full of detainees, brought in, and writing statements. In the confusion, the police simply sat Vagan on a bench in the duty station while they were doing other things.
At about 6 a.m., the detainee realized that no one was watching him, and released the bars on the window. And then he ran away. What the Cheka-OGPU was the first to report a few hours immediately after the escape. By the way, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs immediately came up with and disseminated a version about the detainee’s escape while he was being taken to the toilet. However, this is outright untrue.
As a result, the worst offenders were found immediately – policemen Zubov and Ovcharenko were suspended from work, and then fired altogether. The order was signed the day before, January 31.
And the escaped Vahan Amirkhanyan has not yet been found.
