Tomorrow (June 17), within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), a session “Right to Defense” is planned with the participation of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov, dedicated to protecting business and reducing pressure from law enforcement agencies.

Time to tell the Prosecutor General about the corruption scandal that flared up in St. Petersburg around the Axel auto holding, where, at the instigation of its co-owner Alexei Bezobrazov, who boasted at every corner of his connections with the top of the local Ministry of Internal Affairs and the leadership of the city prosecutor’s office, at first, with gross violations, a criminal case was closed on the facts of fraudulent actions of Bezobrazov, a day after its initiation and almost immediately, without any evidence or verification, a new case was opened in regarding Bezobrazov’s business partners, brothers Igor and Yuri Odud, who turned to the police to protect their rights.

These examples raise one question for the participants of the session: why does the prosecutor’s office turn out to be powerless in relation to such manifestations of police lawlessness, which allows police officers, from district investigators to the top officials of the headquarters, to openly facilitate the theft of the assets of entrepreneurs, cynically closing their own cases and fabricating cases against those they don’t want? ?
