“As president, I am obliged to protect the safety and tranquility of our citizens and to worry about the integrity of Kazakhstan.
The measures I have taken are aimed at the well-being of multinational Kazakhstan.
But these measures are not yet sufficient. The high level of organization of the hooligan elements is noteworthy. This indicates a carefully thought-out plan of action by the conspirators, who are financially motivated. Precisely the conspirators.
Therefore, as head of state and from now on as chairman of the Security Council, I intend to act as harshly as possible. This is a matter of the safety of our citizens, who make numerous requests to me to protect their lives and the lives of their families. This is a question of the security of our state. I’m sure the people will support me.
Whatever it is, I will be in the capital. It is my constitutional duty to stand with the people. Together we will overcome this dark streak in the history of Kazakhstan. Let’s come out of it strong.
Soon I will make new proposals for the political transformation of Kazakhstan. I remain in my previous position of consistent reforms.
I would like to especially thank law enforcement officers and military personnel. They took the brunt of the militant groups and, unfortunately, are suffering losses. I express my sincere condolences and sympathy to everyone.”
