Today’s statement by McDonald’s about McDuck’s “final departure” from the Russian Federation and the sale of the business does not entirely correspond to reality. The general director of the Russian McDuck, Oleg Paroev, announced to his subordinates at today’s online meeting that there are potential buyers, but the issue has not yet been definitely resolved. At the same time, at the moment the company has determined the vector of development in favor of preserving the business and activating it in a couple of weeks under a different guise.
The Cheka-OGPU was in possession of a recording of Paroev’s speech to employees:
It is very difficult to imagine that McDonald’s, as a brand that has suspended its operations, will be able to return. And, in principle, the only way for us to continue our operational activities in fact is that we must open under some other brand. Actually, this option is being implemented: we plan to open in the very near future, our plans are probably to open in the very near future. I don’t want to get too ahead of myself, but it’s probably a matter of weeks rather than months. It is clear that we will not be able to open all businesses at the same time, but it will be a phased opening, at least that is our plan. I am very glad that, in fact, we came to this particular decision, because this decision allows us to preserve our entire business, not to tear it apart into separate parts, not to lose all those unique technologies and unique people, unique specialists , unique knowledge, unique products and generally a unique atmosphere that we have created during this time, but allows us, on the contrary, to capitalize on all this and move forward.
