Today, the Moscow City Court will consider the investigation’s request to extend the preventive measure for the accused in the case of the hacker group Alexey Stroganov (Flint) and Vitaly Akhmetov (founder of the NGO “People’s Unity”).

Investigator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Valishin R.S. decided to hand over to the judges of the Moscow City Court the legacy of the now former SD investigator Vernigorov, who led the “Flint case.”

Through the hands of the Moscow City Court, the investigation is trying to leave 16 people in custody and 7 people under house arrest.

First Deputy Prosecutor General Razinkin returned the criminal case against Stroganov, Akhmetov and others for additional investigation, which meant the release of the accused from custody (as the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation says). However, the investigation decided to shift all responsibility to the judge of the Moscow City Court.

The group members were detained based on materials transferred to Russia by the United States. Flint’s hacker group did not work in Russia, hacking and stealing card data exclusively in the United States and Europe. Therefore, there are no victims at all in the case.
In the course of his activities, Stroganov was awarded a certificate from the director of the FSB of the Russian Federation for ensuring cybersecurity of the Russian Federation and gratitude from Vladimir Putinaz for ensuring cybersecurity during the FIFA World Cup in the Russian Federation in 2018. Akhmetov is the recipient of commendations from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
