Lawyer Kovrizhkin became known for his defense of the head of the Department of Internal Affairs for the ZAO Igor Lyakhovets, accused of falsifying the case against journalist Ivan Golunov. But right before the hearing of the case, Lyakhovets lost his status.
The Moscow Bar Chamber expelled Kovrizhkin from its ranks for the second time for a not entirely correct bribe of 5 million rubles to the well-known investigator of the central apparatus of the Investigative Committee Sergei Dubinsky and his subordinate Alexei Trinev. They then complained to the chamber about the provocation of a bribe by the lawyer. At first, the chamber did not notice any violations, but then decided that Kovrizhkin had sinned by secretly collaborating with the M Directorate of the FSB of Russia and secretly recording everyone on a dictaphone.
Kovrizhkin complained about the chamber to the court, but they took a break, deciding to wait for the verdict of the ICR investigators. The verdict did not take place the first time either. First, Dubinsky’s case was heard by the chairman of the Basmanny District Court, Irina Vyrysheva. But her sentence was overturned by the Moscow City Court for gross violations: the announced result was very different in the reasoning part from the sentence issued on paper. The second time, Dubinsky received the same 6 years in prison, and Trinev received 7 years and seven months. As the Cheka-OGPU found out, Dubinsky had already been released, he was released from punishment due to illness.
Judge Irina Vyrysheva resigned from the post of chairman of the main district court for the Investigative Committee and returned to the Moscow City Court to join her friend Elena Guchenkova in the composition for the consideration of criminal cases in the first instance. And the opera from the M department, with whom Kovrizhkin was friends, was transferred to another department, he turned out to be the son of an FSB general and also ended up on the tape recordings of the now former lawyer.
