Three servicemen in Novocherkassk were convicted of torturing six subordinates in order to extract a confession of drug use from them. As the Novocherkassk Garrison Military Court established, the crime was committed “out of falsely understood interests of the service.” On February 23, the convicts brutally beat one serviceman in a park at the intersection of Kharkov highway and S.V. street. The servicemen repeatedly vomited, after which they were forced to do squats and push-ups in the vomit. While performing the exercises, each of the victims continued to be beaten.

All the “punishers” admitted their guilt and testified against each other. They also apologized to the victims and to the personnel of the military unit. The court sentenced Uulu Nurllan to 3 years 9 months, Vitaly Kovalev and Nikita Shchukin – 3 years 6 months each. All terms are conditional. All of them took part in combat operations and were decorated in the past.
