A source from the Cheka-OGPU spoke about behind-the-scenes incidents in the preparation and holding of the Russia-Africa parliamentary conference.
Part 2.
According to the source, the deputies fed and watered those who arrived throughout the entire conference (on March 21, the last participants fly out of Moscow) as much as they could. Some ordered deliveries and catering, others closed accounts in restaurants. Some even paid for the entertainment expenses of delegation members.
At the same time, only the top officials of the delegations were officially fully supported. They were separately invited to lunch at the Ritz-Carlton. For the rest (about 300 people) there was a one-time coffee break: cold kebabs and seafood were brought from the hotel.
Most of the guests were accommodated at the Ritz-Carlton, but some were accommodated at the National. The latter felt slighted (throughout the entire time, an atmosphere of jealousy and competition reigned: members from different delegations watched each other and compared how they were received in Russia) and because of this, a scandal almost broke out. The organizers reassured the guests that there was no reason behind the numbers and the resettlement was carried out in alphabetical order.
A taboo topic at the conference was the activities of the Wagner PMC on the African continent. Several representatives from different delegations (for example, from Mali, which was supervised by propaganda virtuoso Pyotr Tolstoy) complained at different times about the mercenaries. The main complaint was the “double standards” of the main Russian PMC when participating in certain conflicts. In particular, the overt game on the French side. True, such behind-the-scenes conversations were stopped in their infancy and those who were indignant were made to understand that the conference was not the place for this topic.
Instead, the guests were shown the Kremlin, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Exhibition of National Economic Achievements, Zaryadye, the Pushkin Museum, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and other attractions.
