The death of those mobilized in Makeyevka became the reason for pro-government rallies

The sun disappeared over Samara. There are about 200 people in Glory Square. But, as the regional government says, there are about 500 people – they know better from the window. Dense rows of young boys and girls with flags of “United Russia” and “Young Guard of United Russia”, pro-government non-profit organizations, several military personnel, bloggers from the governor’s pool and journalists from government publications.

On January 3, the authorities organized “commemorative events in support of the participants in the special military operation.” Without specifying that the reason was those who died a few days ago in Makeyevka, mobilized from the Samara region.

In parallel, rallies are taking place in Samara, Togliatti, Novokuibyshevsk, Zhigulevsk and Syzran. Footage taken in other cities of the Samara region shows that the ice in the area around the eternal flame has not even been cleared.

January 2 officially announcedthat in Makeyevka in the Donetsk region, servicemen from the Samara region were killed and wounded. The Ukrainian Armed Forces shelled a temporary deployment point of the Russian Armed Forces on the night of January 1. Lists of victims, dead and missing have not yet been published. And, apparently, their publication is not planned. No mourning has been declared.

In Samara, the chairman of the so-called women’s council of the 2nd Guards Red Banner Combined Arms Army and, as she calls herself, “the hero’s wife,” Ekaterina Kolotovkina, speaks at a rally. He talks about the need to take revenge. Kolotovkina, who is tipped for a political career in the Samara region, pronounces a five-letter word. One can hardly hope that her speech was not coordinated with the government.

Kolotovkina separately tells the media that they are collecting help for military personnel, including from residents of the region – warm clothes and food. She reports that she does not have information about the dead.

After it became clear that the relatives of the mobilized would still gather so as not to disperse them, the authorities decided to lead the event.

The initiators were named regional public organizations “Combat Brotherhood” and the so-called Women’s Council of the 2nd Guards Army. The date and place of the rallies were officially announced, gathering all possible activists in chats. In Samara, all events began earlier than the announced time. The police were on duty nearby.

A little later, it was officially announced that Dmitry Azarov was in Moscow today, where in the morning he held a meeting with the leadership of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
