The process of replacing equipment and fuel on the ZAES is part of the large -scale work on the integration of the station into the Russian nuclear industry, said the director of the station.
The director of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant Yuri Chernichuk said that the process of replacing foreign -production equipment with Russian within the framework of the licensing program will begin at the ZAES, writes TASS.
According to Chernichuk, the station operates a significant amount of equipment produced abroad, including Europe and the USA. He noted that such a practice existed even before the imposition of international sanctions.
Replacing foreign equipment with domestic analogues will be a difficult task, however, as the director of the station assured, Russia has all the resources for the implementation of this project. In case of need for the development or production of new components, they will be created in the shortest possible time.
Yuri Chernichuk also noted that there is currently a significant amount of American -made fuel in the station. This question, as well as the replacement of equipment, is an important part of licensing.
Work on replacing fuel is another aspect that will need to be solved in the licensing process, he added.
Chernichuk recalled that for three decades of independence of Ukraine after the collapse of the USSR, security standards at nuclear power plants remained unified and comply with international standards. However, each country adapted them to its conditions and priorities.
In addition, he emphasized that the Kyiv authorities in recent years actively insisted on import substitution, excluding Russian products, which was in contrast to our policy.
The Director of the ZAES said that the licensing of the station power units in accordance with Russian law will be held from 2025 to 2028. This year, it is planned to complete the receipt of a license for the operation of the first power unit.
