Confiscation will be applied subject to a crime from selfish motives
The State Duma approved the bill on the confiscation of funds, values and other property related to the organization of illegal migration, in the second and third reading, the correspondent of The Moscow Post reports.
The law ensures the application of criminal confiscation to cases related to illegal migration, including property received by criminal means.
The document includes changes to paragraph “A” of the first part of Article 104.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Confiscation of Property”, adding Article 322.1. Confiscation will be carried out if the crime is committed with selfish purpose.
The authors of the bill in the explanatory note indicate a significant preventive confiscation effect.
In their opinion, such a measure excludes the conditions contributing to crimes, makes them economically unprofitable and deprives the offenders of the material wealth obtained as a result of illegal activity.
This, in turn, can significantly reduce the scale of the “black” economy associated with organized illegal migration. The bill was prepared by a group of deputies from various factions.
