Judging by the footage published by Lior Raz, the shells exploded literally a few steps from the place where he and his group were. As a former fighter in Duvdevan, Israel’s elite army unit, Raz didn’t sit back and signed up for a volunteer group evacuating Israelis from areas around Gaza. He was also accompanied in the special operation by eminent Israeli figures – a journalist from a major daily newspaper and a former member of the Knesset. The star volunteers had weapons with them, fortunately, they did not have to shoot – they successfully passed by the Islamist groups and safely got out of the shelling zone.
Already, as local media report, the Israeli “James Bond” is preparing for a new outing. Raz himself jokingly says that he simply continues to play his role. Even at this time, everyone whom Lior Raz has saved during these days asks to take a selfie with him to show off later on Instagram. The actor does not refuse.
