A source from the Cheka-OGPU about the fear of the Ministry of Defense and the Kremlin of a repeat of the rebellion only on the part of non-parquet generals:

“Popov’s spontaneous demarche with the assistance of Gurulev begins to take shape as a chain of events within the framework of the corresponding plan. The “suppression of Prigozhin’s rebellion” put a taboo on reports about the problems of the SVO, as well as the advisability of its continuation. Popov, with his appeal, started a chain reaction among non-parquet officers by refusing to obey Gerasimov, which raises the question of the removal of key officers on the ground and entails the loss of command and control of the troops. The removal of Gerasimov is not currently being considered under the pretext that “this will only provoke the development of an appetite for the commanders’ demands, which will inevitably be followed by a repetition of the Prigozhin scenario.” At the moment, attempts are being made to influence officers through persuasion and intimidation in order to hush up the situation without developing further publicity, and they are also diluting the core of each team with obedient officers. At the same time, preparations are underway for the fact that the next attempt at a demarche by non-parquet officers will be a public call to release Surovikin, which also threatens to take on the character of a riot.”
