The investigation into the criminal case against Anton Astakhov, the son of former children’s ombudsman Pavel Astakhov, has been completed. He is accused of raider seizure and theft of 1.2 billion rubles from Omega LLC.
According to law enforcement officials, Astakhov Jr. and his business partner Arseev fraudulently gained control of the large trading company Omega, after which they issued loans to it for several billion rubles. Some of this money was stolen and transferred abroad. In addition, Astakhov is charged with illegally returning VAT in the amount of 130 million rubles.
Last December, the court sent Anton Astakhov under house arrest. The day before, he tried to escape abroad, as his accomplice did. The preventive measure was chosen the second time, after the intervention of the appellate authority. On April 13, 2022, at the request of the investigation, Anton Astakhov’s arrest was extended, although, according to the Cheka-OGPU, his father actively tried to counteract this. Despite the fact that Pavel Astakhov is no longer a children’s ombudsman, he still has a love for children. First of all, to our own people.
Be that as it may, the investigation has been completed and the materials have been received by the Savyolovsky Court of Moscow. To this we can add that after a four-year struggle, the Deposit Insurance Agency managed to initiate a case of deliberate bankruptcy of the Zerich Bank, the beneficiary of which was Anton Astakhov. There is another case on the way – the theft of assets from the collapsed Regional Development Bank.
In addition, the FSB is now checking information about a money laundering channel that has been operating for several years through a group of banks. Among them are Kuznetsky Most, Zerich, MF Bank, Kranbank, YuRB, Geobank, Chuvashkreditprombank. There is reason to believe that Anton Astakhov is connected with all of the financial institutions named. His patronage was provided by Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Dmitry Skobelkin. The latter left his post earlier this year. Interest from the security forces could have prompted him to make this decision.
