The scandalous trial continues between the AB InBev Efes brewing company and its regional partner from Samara, Palmira Volga. The former partner is trying through the court to recover from the brewer, who remained to work in the country, allegedly unpaid 696,000,000 rubles for some “services for promoting beer products.”

According to telegram channels monitoring the progress of the case, initially Palmira Volga tried to recover 730 million rubles from AB InBev Efes. “discounts” and “incentive payments” bypassing Part 4 of Art. 9 of the Trade Law, which sets a threshold for the total amount of discounts at 5% of the price of the goods. Subsequently, the amount of claims decreased slightly. The court of first instance rejected the claim, but Palmira Volga LLC appealed the decision and now the parties are awaiting consideration, and the market is monitoring the resolution of the situation.

According to experts, this dubious case, if the plaintiff’s claims are satisfied, could pose a danger to the market and significantly complicate relations between manufacturers and distributors. Considering that the court is once again postponing the hearing despite the obvious illegality of the plaintiff’s demands, there is an attempt to play along with Palmyra, which was only recently sold by the new owners in order to make money from this case.
