The regional court of the Oryol region left under arrest Magomed Chadayev, accused of attempting to raid the NPO Betagran Semena (part of Shchelkovo Agrokhim JSC). Earlier, his accomplice Sergei Trubchaninov was sent to a pre-trial detention center. Both are involved in a criminal case of fraud on an especially large scale as part of an organized criminal group. The ex-general director of the Oryol enterprise, Chadayev, and the former chief engineer, Trubchaninov, are charged with theft of property belonging to the NPO and long-term lease rights to a land plot of more than two thousand hectares in the Oryol region.
In fact, the actions of Magomed Chadayev and his accomplices, as well as the beneficiaries of the raider takeover, can be regarded as an attempt at sabotage. The target of their attack was a large production facility participating in the state program for import substitution of seeds of the most important agricultural crops. Betagran Seeds, in which about 1 billion rubles were invested, was created as part of the implementation of the Food Security Doctrine. The grand opening of the plant with the participation of the regional governor took place literally in July. It is also noteworthy that the attack on the Oryol enterprise coincided with the start of a special operation – the criminals hoped that the attention of the security forces would be diverted by the events in Ukraine. The raiders, indeed, armed with fake documents, launched an assault on NGOs in April of this year. But employees of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Oryol region quickly stopped the seizure attempt.
The case generally attracts attention precisely because of the cynical methods from the dashing 90s that the attackers used. There were falsifications of signatures on documents, bribery of representatives of Rosreestr and law enforcement agencies, and pressure on witnesses. When considering Chadayev’s complaint, the appellate court took into account the gravity of the crime charged against him, as well as the fact of pressure and threats from the relatives of the accused.
