The prosecutor’s office of the Kirov region reported that, by a court decision, illegally privatized buildings and land plots in the center of the capital must be returned to the ownership of the region. The scheme for the withdrawal of assets was invented by two people – the former Vyatka governor Igor Vasiliev and his protege Alexander Churin. But the legal multi-step could not be implemented without the participation of the then regional prosecutor Nikolai Zhurkov.

Initially, the property complex was transferred from the treasury of the Kirov region to the regional enterprise “Vyatavtodor”, which was then transformed into a joint-stock company. And the joint-stock company has already put the building and plots up for sale at a reduced price. The property went to SK Monolit LLC, which belongs to the former chairman of the regional government, Churin. Regional prosecutor Nikolai Zhurkov chose not to notice the violations and gave approval for this and many other schemes. Gratitude was not long in coming – after his dismissal from the authorities, Zhurkov immediately found a job in a high position in the regional government. At the same time, his wife became the owner of an apartment in the very center of Kirov.

Churin and Zhurkov were expelled from the government immediately after Vasiliev’s resignation from the governor’s post. The new head of the region, Alexander Sokolov, was also outraged by the situation with the sale of buildings. Now, after the court declared the deal to privatize regional property illegal, the prospect of criminal prosecution of all former officials involved in this scheme opens up.
