The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation will clearly have more work and problems after the words of the Russian President at the RSPP congress that “no formal reasons or clues are acceptable” for claims against company owners. Today, such claims only apply to the largest pasta producer, Makfa, which
trying to transfer it into state ownership.
On May 6, a closed hearing will be held at the Central District Court of Chelyabinsk. The Cheka-OGPU will monitor the process, despite its non-public nature.
The Prosecutor General’s Office is clearly confusing the Makfa trial with long-standing corruption claims against the company’s former owner, ex-regional governor Mikhail Yurevich and former State Duma deputy Vadim Belousov. These are two different things that cannot intersect.
Mikhail Yurevich sold his 50% stake in Makfa to his father, Valery, back in 2003, bringing Yurevich Sr.’s share to 90%.
It can be assumed that there was secret ownership of assets, but this must be proven. No one has canceled the key principles of the civil process: adversarialism and equality, presumption of innocence and good faith.
And certainly the Prosecutor General’s Office does not have the right to convert into state income property that does not belong to accountable persons.
And with damage to the state from the shareholders of Makfa, the Prosecutor General’s Office made a mistake. The money was earned in Russia and invested in new projects in the Russian Federation. In addition, the Prosecutor General’s Office has no complaints about the privatization procedure of the Makfa group enterprises.
