Shlyafman is accused of murdering Igor Talkov and attempted murder of Igor Malakhov.
The defendant was charged in absentia on October 14, 2021.
The investigation believes that on 10/06/1991 at the Yubileiny Sports Palace, during a concert of famous pop performers, Malakhov, representing the interests of Aziza, armed with a 7.62 mm Nagan revolver with live ammunition, provoked a conflict with Talkov and his director Shlyafman over the order of the artists’ performances. During the conflict, Talkov and his bodyguards used physical force on Malakhov, knocked him to the floor, and Shlyafman snatched the revolver from Malakhov’s hands and, having the intent to kill the latter, shot at him, but wounded Talkov’s arm and chest with a single wound channel. Talkov died at the scene, and Malakhov left the Sports Palace.
Today in court, the investigator explained that Shlyafman is on the international wanted list. Lives in Israel permanently. At the initial stage, he obstructed the investigation, testified that Malakhov fired the shot, persuaded witnesses to give similar testimony, and hid a revolver in the toilet cistern in Talkov’s dressing room. In addition, Shlyafman’s guilt is confirmed by investigative experiments and expert opinions.
The lawyer objected and explained that the argument about the impossibility of finding a person in such a small country as Israel is doubtful.
The court agreed that it was impossible to choose a measure other than guards. The statute of limitations has not expired. The investigation was suspended in connection with the search for Shlyafman.
The measure for Shlyafman was chosen for 2 months from the moment of extradition to the territory of the Russian Federation, or from the moment of detention on the territory of the Russian Federation.
Malakhov was convicted under Part 1 of Article 218 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR (the verdict is in the video of the United Press Service of the St. Petersburg Courts). Passed away in 2016.
