But then “geography lessons” happened to the experienced official Irina. She showed up to the next meeting at the fire pit, to put it mildly, out of shape. For some time, the young cadres listened to the head of the protected areas department with bulging eyes. Especially when Ms. Makanova began to talk about the latest methodology of the Ministry of Natural Resources for developing a minimum recreational capacity.
After a confident explanation that the assessment of minimum loads is the most important part of the development of protected areas for young talents, everything became confused. Irina overwhelmed many with her intellect, others with her loud voice. But some still tried to find out the essence of what the reserved mentor was talking about. “But the minimum load is zero, why count it?” they were perplexed. “Yes, zero, so what?” — retorted Makanova.
Then the official stated that nature reserves and national parks have no boundaries: “We don’t have them!” As it became clear from further explanation, she meant fences, not borders. But that didn’t matter anymore: Almost 50 meeting participants realized that their mentor was simply drunk.
One of the girls asked: “How to control the flow of tourists when a road passes through the protected area?” “Where is this, what are you saying?” — Makanova was surprised and mockingly. “The Arkhangelsk – St. Petersburg highway passes through the Kenozersky National Park,” — the participant clarified and heard a rebuke:
— Girl, what did you have in geography at school? I have a big request to ask of you. At one time I really loved geography at school. And now you look carefully at the map and you will see that there is no road through the Kenozersky National Park and never has passed!
The listeners proposed, by analogy with the program to support rural teachers and doctors, to create a program to support young specialists for protected areas, rightly believing that the average salary of specialists in protected areas of 20-30 thousand rubles is completely insufficient. To this, the director of the Department of Protected Natural Areas stated:
“We’re having a frank conversation, so I’ll tell you the full story.” The state provided support to teachers and doctors. After all, no one questions what these people are doing. Now tell me, what can you offer to the state? Why should the state make preferences for you? Name it!
To the logical arguments that the guys are ready to work, ready to go to remote territories, the high-ranking official retorted: “That’s not enough!” “What, should we give up our souls? Or is there no such request?” — the participants were indignant.
“Because of this emotional component, problems then begin.” And in general, when your leg hurts, you realize that Fuck, no ecology is needed, – Ms. Makanova summed up. When asked about repressions against social experts, she voiced her personal position: “The expert community has degraded. That’s why they’re closing.”
It must be said that Ms. Makanova was not at all embarrassed by the moderator, who tried to steer the conversation into a sober direction. “Will you allow me to smoke?” — exclaimed Irina, clearly tired of the unequal dialogue with sober youth. “It’s not worth it!” — the moderator finally reasoned with the reserved mentor and after a while ended the conversation.
The most surprising thing is that in the closed territory of the forum, where young people had a strict prohibition law, came not just someone drunk, but the mentor of these very children – the head of the reserve system of the Russian Federation. I upgraded my skills, as they say. After such a speech, not only will young people not want to work in nature reserves and national parks, but also the last specialists will flee from there.
