According to the Main Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee for the Moscow Region, on October 2, 2020, Nikolai Kondrat’s Toyota Camry was stopped on Kutuzovsky Avenue by traffic police officers. His driver, Kirill Igitkhanyan, was behind the wheel. He showed the police an investigator’s ID and a special “non-inspection” coupon, which allows the holder of such a document to avoid checks on the roads.
The ID and coupon raised doubts among the police about its authenticity; on this basis, Kirill Igitkhanyan was detained and taken to the Dorogomilovsky police station.
Nikolai Kondrat was concerned about the detention of a driver with a fake license. To prevent the driver from telling his parents about this, the guy decided to get rid of him, claims Izvestia’s source in law enforcement. He entrusted his acquaintance Nikita Matsnev to carry out his plan, promising a “generous” fee – 80 thousand rubles.
According to investigators, through a taxi driver, Nikolai Kondrat gave Nikita Matsnev a hunting knife and wrote a message to Kirill, setting up a meeting in a remote place – in a ravine in the Lukhovitsky district of the Moscow region – supposedly to discuss what had happened. Nikita Matsnev involved his friend Gennady Voskresensky in the case. The two of them met the unsuspecting driver at the designated location the day after the arrest incident, October 3. During the meeting, a fight broke out and the man received several stab wounds from which he died.
On December 21, 2020, Nikolai Kondrat was detained on suspicion of organizing the murder of Kirill Igitkhanyan.
The Cheka-OGPU was the first to report on Nikolai’s arrest and the appearance of the episode with Makhalkina in the case.
