The FSB of Russia, the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the Investigative Committee of Russia revealed facts of abuse of official powers by employees of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region
Employees of the FSB of Russia and the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia conducted a number of searches in a criminal case initiated in June 2020 by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation on the grounds of a crime under Article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
It was found that in the period from 2016 to 2020. several officials from among the management staff of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region committed abuse of official powers, expressed in the acquisition of property for personal use with the funds of the Fund “Assistance to Programs of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region”.
Currently, the defendants in the criminal case are Assistant to the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Umnov, Head of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region Alexey Semenov and former Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region Ivan Abakumov . They were detained in accordance with Article 91 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation.
