“During the investigative actions, one of the men fully admitted guilt, explaining that the second detainee was present during the conflict, but did not participate in it. The identity of this citizen was established, he was questioned and released.
Subsequently, eyewitnesses presented evidence to law enforcement agencies of the said man’s involvement in illegal actions. He was quickly detained by police officers. Due to the fact that the victim died from his injuries in a medical facility, the materials of the criminal case were transferred by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Yalta to the investigative authorities for retraining and further investigation.”
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, events developed as follows:
“On September 6, the Yalta police duty station received a message that at about 05.30 a man was delivered to the city hospital in serious condition with multiple cut wounds. The victim was brought to the hospital by car by two men, after which they disappeared.
During the course of a complex of investigative activities, the police established the location of a vehicle similar in description. The citizens in the car were detained and taken to the police department for investigation.
An investigator from the Livadiysky police department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Yalta opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm with the use of weapons or objects used as weapons).”
