The Leningrad region continues to amaze with the unprecedented and outright impudence of those in power. But this time the newsmaker was not one of the local officials, who have been arrested one by one since December last year, but the leader of the local LDPR faction, Andrei Lebedev. At a meeting of the regional parliament, he said that President Putin is “a good man,” but the ten billion rubles that the state allocates to help defrauded shareholders “is horror” as a lot. In fact, the horror is that someone like Andrei Yaroslavovich should have kept quiet, because the deputy is a very wealthy person. And it’s not about the numerous plots of land and Mercedes S500 and E400, which are visible in the declarations of the people’s representative. And not even in the whole building on Karavannaya Street in the center of St. Petersburg, squeezed out in the dashing nineties, or a luxurious villa on the Cote d’Azur of France, which, of course, cannot be found in the declarations. It’s just that Andrei Yaroslavovich has a completely different view of the regional budget and its needs. He would like the money to go to completely different budget items – as the Cheka-OGPU has said more than once, Lebedev is the leader of the Sertolov criminal community. In addition to the multi-billion dollar theft of military lands in the Vsevolozhsk region, it is also engaged in cutting up the budget. Money is embezzled from contracts for the construction of wastewater treatment plants and other fuel and energy facilities, landscaping and road repairs. And although the investigative group of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has been working on the activities of this organized crime group for a year and a half under the personal supervision of Alexander Bastrykin, the criminals, taking advantage of connections in the regional government and among law enforcement officers, continue to calmly go about their “work.”
