“Over the past few years, the State Security Committee has recorded active intelligence activities from the position of the Ukrainian Embassy in the Republic of Belarus, as well as the consulate of this state in the city of Brest. With the total number of Ukrainian diplomatic missions being just over two dozen people, at least half of them were career employees Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, which is unprecedented even for the diplomatic missions of large states and indicates Ukraine’s choice of course towards aggressive intelligence activities in relation to our country contrary to normal diplomatic relations,” said Konstantin Bychek, deputy head of the KGB Investigation Department.
According to him, embassy employees carried out human intelligence, attempting to form an extensive network of informants from among citizens of the Republic of Belarus, and also personally collected intelligence information, including regarding Belarusian military facilities.
