During the investigation, it was found that since 2007 and for a year and a half, Emelyanov has persecuted a resident of the city of Balashikha and, under the threat of the murder of her parents, demanded to resume relations with him. He has repeatedly committed crime in the family of a family of a girl, for which he and his accomplices have already been convicted. Realizing that the girl did not plan to return to him, Emelyanov decided to implement as revenge on the previously repeated threats and kill her parents. For this, Emelyanov entered into a criminal conspiracy with his acquaintance – Vladimir Romanov. They tracked their victims and, as a result of October 4, 2008, attacked the car of spouses who moved along the roadway in the city of Balashikha. When the car of the victims stopped, Emelyanov went out and went to their car. To suppress the will to resist in order to abduct the Emelyanov through the car window, he shot at the victims at least three times. Then he got into the car and took them. Romanov, acting together and consistent with Emelyanov, accompanied the car in which the abducted people moved to the place of their retention, while ensuring monitoring the environment, so that in case of danger or the appearance of eyewitnesses of the crime to prevent Emelyanov.
In June 2015, the verdict of the Moscow Regional Court Emelyanov was sentenced to 24 years in prison. The investigation of this criminal case was a particular difficulty due to a number of reasons, including the fact that Emelyanov did not admit his guilt to the last, and his accomplice was put on the wanted list. In addition, the bodies of the killed spouses were not able to find. The accomplice of Emelyanov was charged in absentia and a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen.
On June 3, 2021, after the establishment of the location and detention of Romanov, he was delivered to the investigator. With his participation, interrogations were carried out and testing on the site during which he showed where in October 2008, after the murder of a married couple, he and Emelyanov hid the bodies of the victims. As a result, in the Pushkin district of the Moscow region, skeletal remains of two people were discovered. In the near future, genetic examinations will be appointed by the investigator, according to the results of which it will be established whether the bodies of spouses that were missing in 2008 are really discovered.
