The Investigative Committee of Russia is actively continuing to investigate the criminal case against the former head of Rusnano Leonid Melamed. Currently, witnesses are being actively interrogated and, essentially, the evidence base is being collected anew.

According to the investigation, Melamed agreed with the Alemar company to perform services that the company did not require. Law enforcement agencies believe that funds were withdrawn from the company in this way.

TASS previously reported that the criminal case was discontinued on non-rehabilitative grounds due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

However, as the OGPU Cheka previously reported, the TASS information does not correspond to reality, the case is not closed, and an investigation is underway.

We can name 3 reasons for the negative turn of events for Melamed.

The first reason is the 200 million on deposit.

Melamed’s lawyers had the opportunity to close the criminal case on non-exonerating grounds. But a serious problem arose. At the very beginning of the investigation, Leonid Melamed, on the advice of his lawyers, transferred more than 200 million rubles to a deposit account to cover the damage. The desire to make do with “little blood”, to have the case dismissed “for lack of evidence” and to return one’s 200 million rubles is the first reason for intensifying the case.

The second reason is lawyers.

The law firm “Asnis and Partners” actively supported the criminal case. The work was carried out with witnesses, primarily with current and current employees of Rusnano.

Internal correspondence in the company showed that work on the criminal case was controlled at the level of members of the Board and A.B. Chubais. Now, after the change of legal team, the witnesses will be questioned again.

The third reason is Chubais and the geopolitical situation, into which Anatoly Borisovich fits poorly.
