The Investigative Committee confirmed the information of the Cheka-OGPU about the detention of authoritative businessman Antranik Yalanuzyan in Sochi on charges of contract murder committed 21 years ago.

Officially, the ICR reported:
The investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Krasnodar Territory detained three residents of Sochi, aged from 43 to 73 years, involved in organizing and committing murders in the resort city in the early 2000s. Depending on the role of each, they were charged with organizing two murders of businessmen and other murders, including in a generally dangerous manner and for hire.

According to investigators, the then 52-year-old defendant in 2001, wanting to take revenge on two local businessmen for a failed attempt on his life, decided to organize their murder together with his acquaintance. At the same time, an acquaintance of the defendant also pursued the goal of taking possession of the victims’ shopping pavilions, which were located in the Resort Town of the Adler district of Sochi. To carry out their plan, the organizers turned to a local resident, who was tasked with killing one of the men for money, to which he agreed.

According to the assigned roles, the organizers provided the performer with up-to-date information about the location of the victim. On the evening of September 4, 2001, realizing his plan, the performer, armed with a pistol, waylaid a 37-year-old man near one of the restaurants on Lenin Street, Adler district of Sochi and fired 4 shots at him from a pistol, from which the victim died on the spot.

The murder of the second businessman in March 2002 was ordered by the organizers to be carried out for money by a then 24-year-old local resident. Having received consent, the customers also provided the necessary information about the man’s movements around the city. Having tracked down a businessman’s car near one of the sanatoriums, on the evening of March 23, 2002, the accused fired 3 shots from a pistol with a silencer at the man in the front passenger seat. The victim died from his injuries that same night in the hospital, where he was taken by eyewitnesses to the incident.

Both daring contract killings were carried out in front of a large crowd of eyewitnesses, but despite this, the perpetrators managed to escape.

In addition, the 44-year-old accused in May 2002, during a domestic conflict, together with an acquaintance, also in the city of Sochi, committed the murder of a local resident, inflicting 16 blows with a gas wrench and a wooden bat on the victim’s head together with an accomplice.

For a long time, the perpetrators of these crimes were not identified.

Thanks to the coordinated and aggressive work of the investigators of the regional department of the Investigative Committee for criminal cases of crimes committed in past years, with the operational support of employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the region, it was possible to establish the involvement of the defendants in the crimes committed.
