The Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Kostroma Region has opened a criminal case into the murder of a 5-year-old girl on the grounds of a crime under paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder of a minor).

According to the investigation, on January 4, 2022, the girl went out onto Severnaya Pravda Street in the city of Kostroma for a walk, from where two men took her a short time later and disappeared in an unknown direction.
A search for the girl was immediately organized, in which investigators and criminologists from the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kostroma Region, police officers, and volunteers of the Lisa Alert detachment took part.

During a complex of investigative actions and operational search activities, investigators of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kostroma Region and criminal investigation officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Kostroma Region detained two suspects who admitted to killing a child; the body of the victim was found in a room in one of the dormitories in the city of Kostroma.

Currently, investigative actions are being carried out with the detainees, the investigation intends to petition for them to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention. The criminal investigation continues.
