The head of the economic police of the St. Petersburg Main Directorate, Major General Mikhail Lobanov, returns to Moscow. A source from the Cheka-OGPU said that in the near future he may head the Internal Affairs Directorate for the Central District of the capital. Lobanov worked in his current position for about a year, replacing the former leader Evgeny Ulyanov. It is no secret that the direct appointment of Lobanov to the post of head of the St. Petersburg UEB and PC by order of the Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Kolokoltsev was the result of powerful checks from Moscow that took place in the city Main Directorate. Upon their completion, several heads of Glavka units, who arrived from Moscow in the team of the head of the St. Petersburg police Roman Plugin, lost their positions. It is believed that over the past year Lobanov has brought the St. Petersburg economic police “to their senses” and is now deservedly going for a promotion.
