Sachkov was detained in September 2021 on charges of treason. The case materials are classified. Now the prosecutor’s office has requested 18 years in prison for the founder of Group-IB, Ilya Sachkov.
Sachkov’s lawyer Sergei Afanasyev said that the case was considered very quickly “at a sprint pace” in ten days. The verdict will be announced on July 26. The defense insists on acquitting Sachkov.
The prosecutor in the Sachkov case was the former head of the FSB CIB Sergei Mikhailov, convicted of collaborating with American intelligence services. Thanks to him, the Russian IT industry suffered seriously. He leaked a number of secret data and maliciously brought Russian IT specialists to trial. Previously, it was Sachkov who helped uncover Mikhailov’s plans by testifying against him.
In addition, Business FM claims in a new article that Sachkov could have been poisoned several months before his arrest. Sachkov’s older brother Dmitry told the publication about this. He said that at the end of May 2021 he was hospitalized with symptoms of poisoning. It was then that Sachkov recorded a video in which he announced a possible arrest or disappearance.
