The founder of Telegram messenger Pavel Durov believes that American companies Apple and Google are censored in information and applications on mobile devices. According to the businessman, smartphones are tracking devices that users carry with them, allowing corporations to use personal data for targeting of content.
“Today, Apple and Google are applied to information and applications on our phones, while Visa and MasterCard limit the amount of goods and services for which we can pay,” wrote Mr. Durov in his Telegram channel.
The businessman compared the current state of affairs with the situation of 20 years ago, when there were “decentralized Internet and relatively unlimited banking system” in the world. “Unlike the past 20 years, we are now surrounded by surveillance cameras, which in countries like China use artificial intelligence so that no one can hide,” the businessman said. According to him, today humanity is less free compared to past years. “Every year we give more and more power and control over our lives a handful of irresponsible corporate leaders, which we did not choose,” said the founder of Telegram.
