This is precisely the situation faced by Pavel Mokerov, who is now on the front line as part of the DPR people’s militia.
The story began with the fact that a resident of Nizhny Novgorod, an employee of a local raw materials company, Mokerov, kept a sawn-off shotgun and cartridges for it at home. The police found out about this and seized the weapon. A case was opened, and on February 24, 2022, the day the special operation began, Mokerov was sentenced to two years probation. After waiting until the sentence came into force, Mokerov joined the DPR police and has been on the front line ever since; he was recently nominated for the award “For Courage” – he saved 20 other servicemen.
They decided to present their “award” to the FSIN.
Control over the execution of the sentence was entrusted to the Federal Institution “UII GUFSIN for the Kanavinsky District of Nizhny Novgorod”, where initially Mokerov was not explained the procedure for serving the sentence, his duties, etc. Just one day they discovered that he was not at home. Mokerov himself immediately called and explained everything – he was on the front line, there was no way to arrive. The wife brought all the supporting documents. However, he was quickly put on the federal wanted list, and then the leadership of the PKU went to court to have his suspended sentence revoked. At the same time, the documents indicated that Mokerov had disappeared and his whereabouts were unknown. The court sided with the FSIN – it canceled the suspended sentence and determined a preventive measure in the form of detention. Upon his return, Mokerov will immediately be in prison.
His lawyers appealed this decision.
