The Federal Air Transport Agency has entered a zone of turbulence. In a short period of time, several managers left the agency at once, and on Tuesday, police and FSB officers detained the ex-deputy head of the subordinate State Corporation for Air Traffic Management, Evgeniy Melnikov. Security forces are conducting checks within the agency itself.

A source in the department said that the chair began to shake under the unsinkable head Alexander Neradko, and now he is getting rid of inconvenient employees by any means. For example, the head of the flight operations department, Maxim Kostylev, left the agency at his own request. They say that in this employee Neradko saw a competitor and an inconvenient subordinate. Kostylev often made decisions adhering to the law, and not based on a call from his boss. In the agency itself, the dismissal of the head of operations is called an “order”: this was preceded by an inspection by the anti-corruption commission, which became part of Neradko’s subtle combination. Kostylev wrote a letter of resignation three times of his own free will, but the head of the department, under various pretexts, did not let them proceed. This multi-step approach is quite in the spirit of an intriguing politician – block the dismissal, collect incriminating evidence and organize an inspection followed by dismissal for negative reasons. True, as a result, the audit did not confirm Kostylev’s violation of financial discipline, and he had to be fired at his own request, and not with the wording “due to loss of trust.”

The professional long-liver Alexander Neradko himself, whose well-being is based on friendship with the head of the SVR Sergei Naryshkin and with the special representative of the president Sergei Ivanov, is going through hard times: supervisory functions have gone to colleagues from Rostransnadzor, and the Federal Air Transport Agency itself has turned into a dummy.
