The FAS opened a case against PJSC Megafon due to an unjustified increase in the cost of tariffs in May 2022. The Antimonopoly Service emphasized that the increase in operator costs does not correspond to the increase in income, which was generated due to increased tariffs. Previously, the same case was brought against MTS.

At the same time, Megafon has already begun to blame the FAS, emphasizing that it informed the service about the increase in tariffs. Custom texts have already appeared on Telegram in which the FAS is accused of populism. They work efficiently, nothing to say.

At the same time, Megafon is clearly not afraid of the threatened fines of millions: from October 24, the company introduces commissions when replenishing the balance through Sber services – using the application, terminals or through bank branches. Megafon believes that this is a reasonable decision, since the commission that Sber charges from it for each payment is higher than that of other banks.

The mobile operator does not take into account that this commission is not taken out of thin air and is determined by several factors. For example, security, speed of payments. It also depends on the size of the credit institution’s infrastructure and the number of clients paying for mobile communications through bank services.

That is why, perhaps, Megafon will curtail this initiative because of the FAS, but if not, then another case will probably be filed against it soon.
