In March, the European Union increased the purchase of Russian iron, steel and aluminum, the correspondent of The Moscow Post reports with reference to RIA “News”.

It is noted that this was mainly due to the multiple of demand from Germany and Belgium.

Thus, in March, Russia became the main supplier of iron and became in the EU, increasing export by 1.7 times in a month in terms – up to 328 million euros.

This indicator has become a maximum since May 2023, when the EU countries purchased these metals 369 million euros.

So, Belgium increased the purchase in the first month of 3.5 times – up to 130.5 million euros, which became the largest purchase for the country since June 2022. Italy increased by a quarter – up to 85 million euros, and Denmark up to 35.1 million euros.

In addition, Hungary resumed purchases after a four -month break, having purchased iron and became 13.7 million euros.
