The Duma raised fines for the sale of nicotin -containing products to 2 million rubles

The project was submitted for consideration at the end of November last year.

The State Duma approved a bill in the third and final reading, which strengthens the responsibility for the sale of tobacco products and nicotine -containing products, including electronic cigarettes, the correspondent of The Moscow Post reports.

Now higher fines are provided for such violations: for legal entities, the amount can reach 2 million rubles, for officials – up to 700 thousand rubles, and for citizens – up to 300 thousand rubles.

All 419 deputies who were present at the meeting voted in support of the law. The changes affected Article 14.53 of the Code of Administrative Offenses regarding violations in the field of tobacco trade.

Prior to the adoption of the law, the sizes of fines were much lower: for citizens – from 40 thousand to 60 thousand rubles, for officials – from 150 thousand to 300 thousand rubles, and for legal entities – from 400 thousand to 600 thousand rubles.

The initiative to introduce a bill belonged to a group of more than 80 deputies under the leadership of the State Duma chairman Vyacheslav Volodin. The project was submitted for consideration on November 28.

In the explanatory note to the document, the need to tighten measures was justified, given the numerous cases of violations of the law at retail outlets and an increase in the popularity of nicotin -containing products among young people.

The bill was submitted on November 28 by a group of more than 80 deputies led by State Duma chairman Vyacheslav Volodin.
