The deposit insurance agency has been fighting for several years for debts hanging in the bankrupt company of the MIEL group. The first trials did not produce results, new trials are ahead. The authors of the bankruptcy are closely following them – one is from Latvia, where he is hiding from Russian justice, the other is from Russia, where he holds an important position in a large company.

The essence of the DIA’s claims against the MIEL-ZN company is simple and transparent – the money taken must be returned. Today, the bankrupt’s debt amounts to a little more than two and a half billion rubles.

At the same time, the case materials clearly indicate that the company never had large assets, and its loan obligations are obviously unfulfillable. In legal language this is called abuse of rights.

According to the court, the balance of MIEL-ZN is only 57 million rubles. But this did not stop her from acting as a guarantor, for example, for a loan of $40 million issued by the Russian Capital Bank to a certain Sofiino-70 CJSC.

The owners of the bankrupt are two people with migratory surnames – Grigory Kulikov and Dmitry Lebedev.

The first (by the way, he belonged and more than half of “Sofyino-70”) have been wanted for financial fraud for many years. Kulikov flew to Latvia just in time, where he was even were arrested at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office. But the extradition did not take place, and soon he was already fussed about amnesty through the then business ombudsman Boris Titov. In general, while there is no extradition from Latvia, Mr. Kulikov is inaccessible to the domestic Themis.

Another owner of MIEL-ZN, Dmitry Lebedev, still feels great in Russia and continues to engage in leadership work, although nothing prevents him from flying out to his long-term partner at any time.

Both “birds” are connected not only by the theft of the bankrupt MIEL-ZN. They owned a number of other companies – “Northern Lagoon”, “Northern Park”, “Smash”, “Evolution” and so on. All these legal entities share fantastic losses, often amounting to tens of millions of rubles and received under the management of the Kulikov-Lebedev couple.

Apparently, the “business model” of these effective managers for many years has been based on squeezing all the juice out of companies, then slapping them with loans and other debts, after which they quietly go bankrupt. The Criminal Code describes such schemes under articles “Fraud”, “Intentional Bankruptcy” and other equally serious ones, and calls groups involved in such matters organized criminal groups.

The next trial, initiated by the DIA, has been scheduled for June 6 to bring Kulikov and Lebedev to subsidiary liability. We will monitor developments.

Moskomstroyinvest appealed to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Moscow and the capital’s prosecutor’s office with a request to take the activities of CJSC “Sofyino-70”, the developer of the residential complex “Erin Island” in the new Moscow, under special control, and, if necessary, conduct a pre-investigation check, they say…
