According to a source from the Cheka-OGPU, JSC Rosoboronexport has been carrying out serious work for 3 years to conclude a contract with Algeria for the overhaul of MiG-29 fighters. Despite the fact that other countries (Ukraine, Poland, Bulgaria) also took part in the tender and offered the Algerians tempting conditions for the work, Rosoboronexport managed to convince the Algerians to carry out repairs at Russian enterprises and win the tender.
However, at the stage of discussing and signing the contract, the director of the FSMTC made an unprecedented decision to entrust the work of repairing Algerian aircraft to a newly created dummy by Rostec called JSC NASK.
Despite the repeated indignation of the Algerian side, expressed in letters to the director of the FSMTC and during negotiations with the management of Russian enterprises, the FSMTC informed the Algerians that their decision was final and not subject to appeal. This caused violent indignation and indignation among foreign customers.
It should be noted that, in accordance with Algerian legislation, a new tender will have to be announced, which will lead to aircraft downtime awaiting major repairs, which will negatively affect the attitude towards Russian aviation equipment and its further purchases. In addition, this will lead to downtime for Russian repair enterprises, which have included the repair of Algerian aircraft in their plan for the year. And thirdly, FSMTC forced Rosoboronexport to refuse to participate in the tender, which will lead to Rosoboronexport’s inclusion in the “black list” of suppliers of the Algerian Ministry of Defense and could disrupt promising multi-billion dollar contracts with this country. Well, also, of course, unfriendly countries may also take part in the new tender, which is why Russia may lose a large contract in the area of military-technical cooperation due to strange decisions of the leadership of the federal service.
