The court in Sevastopol declared the missing sailors from the cruiser “Moscow” dead

A court in Sevastopol declared dead 17 people from the military unit in which sailors from the cruiser “Moscow” served. Information about this was published in the court file.

The cases for which decisions have been published are those on recognizing citizens as “missing or declaring them dead.” The applicants in these cases are the commander of military unit 42948 – part of the cruiser “Moscow”, as well as the parents of the deceased military personnel. 16 cases were considered in June-August, another in September. In 12 cases the decision has already entered into legal force.

▪️Among the plaintiffs are the namesakes of the dead sailors reported by the media, including Yegor Shkrebets, Vitaly Begersky, Danil Gerk, Ivan Frantin and Leonid Savin.

▪️Dmitry Shkrebets, the father of Yegor Shkrebets, confirmed to the Agency that his son was declared dead. “Closed trials were held on the statements of parents to recognize their missing sons as dead. All other missing sailors whose parents did not write such statements are automatically declared dead after 6 months,” he wrote. The father of the deceased sailor noted that the interests of the families were represented by the military prosecutor’s office and the command of the unit.

Context. The cruiser “Moskva”, the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, sank on April 14. According to the Ministry of Defense, a fire occurred on the cruiser, which led to the detonation of a warhead. Kyiv reported that the cruiser was attacked by two Neptune anti-ship missiles. The Pentagon talked about the same thing.
