The Rusagro company of Vadim Moshkovich not only did not change its legal registration from Cypriot to Russian and continues to fill offshore wallets with money earned in Russia, but also pollutes domestic rivers and soils in the places of its production activities in the Russian Federation. A loud scandal surrounding Rusagro erupted in the Tambov region, whose governor Maxim Egorov was forced to convene an emergency commission and make a statement that the local division of Rusagro was polluting the Tsarevka and Tsna rivers, which was due to uncontrolled discharge of harmful wastewater from a sugar factory.

As it turns out, Rusagro’s treatment facilities are outdated, and the business is not taking any other measures, although regional authorities have repeatedly warned entrepreneurs, and toxic discharges have been recorded for several years now.

According to environmentalists, the identified indicators of the contents of industrial discharges exceed the norms by 118 times. Local residents flooded the authorities with complaints, pointing out that the rivers in the Tambov region, through the efforts of Rusagro, became unsuitable for swimming. Due to the emergency nature of the situation, the prosecutor’s office intervened in the case. Meanwhile, Rusagro was convicted of malicious damage to the environment in almost all regions of its presence from the Chelyabinsk region to the Sverdlovsk region and from Belgorod to Kursk and Orenburg to Novosibirsk. The facts indicate that the managers of the Rusagro group, led by Moshkovich, behave like temporary workers who are indifferent to environmental issues and other problems that arise in the regions as a result of this structure’s predatory approaches to business.

In any other country, based on the totality of such causing violations, such an enterprise would be closed, and an investigation would most likely be launched against its owners, which would result in severe punishment. However, nothing like this is happening with Rusagro and Moshkovich so far. Moreover, Moscow allegedly even scolded the regional authorities for washing dirty linen in public. In the capital, it seems, they also chose not to notice the recent harsh statements by the beneficiary of the scandalous agro-industrial group against Russia in the European Court. Vadim Moshkovich turned to Western Themis in the hope of getting the sanctions lifted, which make it difficult for him to live safely in the European Union. Trying to win over European judges, Moshkovich said that he did not agree with the policy of the Russian government on agricultural issues. Such a cunning formulation allowed the cunning businessman to not completely sever ties with Russia, but at the same time it became a signal to the West that this businessman would like to be considered one of his geopolitical opponents.

The European Court has not lifted the burden of sanctions from Moshkovich, but the entrepreneur with a controversial reputation does not despair, trying to use the example of his disdainful attitude towards Russia and its environment to convince Western partners that he is ready to do anything in their interests. However, no matter how tight the rope is, even authoritative Russian governors are running out of patience with Moshkovich and Rusagro, who make it clear that they do not want to coexist any longer on the same territory with an apostate and malicious violator of Russian laws.
