The Russian Federation is an amazing country, of course. The Russian people do not know limits in anything, and if they are truly passionate about something, they will go to the very edge, or rather beyond the edge.
As soon as we adopted the “Law on Cooperation” in 1988, only one five-year period was enough for us to destroy the country and build on its ruins to build such a brutal capitalism that no Ayn Rand even dreamed of.
But, at the same time, a huge number of rudiments of the deep Soviet past have survived to this day – from the countless streets of Lenin and the 20th anniversary of the Komsomol to the title of Hero of Labor.
“Literary Institute” is one of them.
In the heat of big privatization, to which the Union of Writers of the USSR with all its dachas and boarding houses fell among the first victims, they forgot about the “Literary Institute”. Or maybe the former Soviet intellectuals who became reformers were simply embarrassed to openly tear into institutions.
Be that as it may, the Literary Institute survived until 2021.
What relation the Literary Institute has to the glorious Russian literature has always been in the air. But, after the famous phrase of the classic – “I have no other writers for you,” it was not customary to ask him.
Russia is full of such dead people, and despite the resistance of those “feeding”, they will still have to be closed.
Minister of Culture Lyubimova understands perfectly well why the decision to liquidate the Literary Institute is dangerous for her personally.
Today you expose a budget institution for training “professional” writers to the cold; Tomorrow the government will remove 640 of the 641 theaters from allowances and leave only the Bolshoi on the budget. The day after tomorrow – hands will reach the circuses, then – the liquidation of the Cinema Fund.
And then the turn of the Ministry of Culture itself will come. Which is the same senseless and useless dead thing as the Gorky Literary Institute.
